Right to choose

NHS Right to Choose Pathway

Patients in England who are registered with a GP have the right to choose an appropriate Autism and/or ADHD assessment provider, anywhere in the country.

Mantle Psychology are registered with the NHS to provide assessments for adults, young people and children for Autism and ADHD. These

assessments are fully funded by the Integrated Care Board (as NHS commissioners).

How to access a Right to Choose referral

To access a right to choose referral you will need to make an appointment with your GP and request a right to choose referral. They will need to agree that an assessment is appropriate and necessary based on the information you provide to them.

The GP will need to fill out the referral form at the time of appointment. They may ask you to fill out some screening questionnaires to support your referral. You will need to tell them that you would like to be referred to Mantle Psychology. Our current wait time is 12 months.

All Calderdale and Kirklees GPs should have access to the referral form, if they do not, or if your GP is out of this area and they haven't referred to us previously, they will need to email us directly at office@mantlepsychology.com
Please note Calderdale Children and Young People can also refer for a right to choose assessment via Open Minds (CAMHS).

What are the next steps?

What happens once I have been referred to Mantle?

Once your GP has made the referral, you do not need to follow up with us. Please be assured that we will contact you in due course.

Once your referral has been processed, we will send some pre-assessment forms for you to complete. Additional questionnaires will need to be completed by an informant, parent and the an education provider (for child assessments).

When will I get an appointment?

Once the pre-assessment forms have been returned to us and reviewed by the practitioners, we will then send through the scheduled appointments. You will need to confirm that you are able to attend.

Please note there is an extremely high demand for appointments and we are limited in the times and days we can offer you. It may require you to take time away from work, school or activities to attend your appointments. We would advise that you try and be as flexible as possible to ensure that you are seen promptly.
